Montana State University, founded in 1893, offers a wide variety of excellent undergraduate and graduate programs to students from around the world. MSU is especially known for high quality programs in agriculture, architecture, business, computer science, engineering, film, nursing, and the environmental, natural and physical sciences. The university attracted US$109 million last year for research and creative activities and is ranked as a top tier research university by the Carnegie Foundation. The National Science Foundation ranks MSU in the top 25% in the country for research in science. The student population at this mid-sized, public university is about 12,700 including 500 international students from over 60 countries.
The university is located in Bozeman, a safe and friendly community of 65,000 people, and an ideal college town. All of the conveniences of much larger cities are found here. There are many cultural activities to enjoy and Bozeman sits in a beautiful valley, surrounded by mountain ranges and rivers. World-famous Yellowstone National Park is just 150 kilometers to the south.
