Founded in 1860, New York Medical College is one of the nation's largest private health sciences universities. It has a strong history of involvement in the social and environmental determinants of health and disease, and special concern for the poor, powerless, and helpless. NYMC's School of Medicine, Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences, and School of Health Science and Practice share a beautiful, suburban campus, near New York City, with Westchester Medical Center (the region's advanced care and Level 1 Trauma Center). The School of Health Sciences and Practice offers on-campus and online Masters of Public Health in Health Policy and Management and Environmental Health Science, and on-campus MPH in Behavioral Sciences and Health Promotion, and MPH in Epidemiology. Graduate certificates may be combined with the MPH in global health, emergency preparedness, industrial hygiene, health education and others. The school also offers an on-campus Doctor of Public Health in Health Policy and Management, Doctor of Physical Therapy, and medically-oriented M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology.
