Located on the beautiful campus of UF, the ELI provides intensive academic English classes and a unique Cultural Immersion Program (CIP).  We have three long semesters and three short semesters a year for beginning to advanced students.  Core classes include Listening/Speaking, Reading/Writing, and Grammar. Elective or substitute courses include iBT prep, IELTS prep, Business English, University Culture and Success, Pronunciation, Grammar and Grammar for Writing, all available when enrollment allows.  The ELI assists students in finding housing, and provides comprehensive academic, medical, and insurance orientations.  The CIP offers conversation partners, volunteer opportunities, daily afternoon activities, and weekend trips, including tubing, picnics, rock climbing, canoeing, Walt Disney World, Busch Gardens, and Florida's famous beaches.  The CIP also provides two Language Assistants (LAs) per Listening/Speaking class.  These LAs, usually UF students, help ELI students understand informal language, music, slang and idioms.  They are native English speakers and accompany students to all the afternoon and weekend activities. The ELI is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA), and is a member of UCIEP (University & College Intensive English Programs) and AAIEP (Association of American Intensive English Programs). UF has over 100 undergraduate and 200 graduate majors. Conditional admission to University of Florida graduate programs is offered on a case-by-case basis and in some cases allows exiting the ELI in lieu of a TOEFL.
