Valparaiso University is a four-year, private, selective university founded in 1859. Our diverse student body includes more than 4,000 students from most U.S. states and more than 50 other countries. Our undergraduate programs include over 70 majors in our Colleges of Engineering, Business, Nursing and Arts and Sciences. We also have more than 40 master’s degree programs and have our own School of Law. We have an intensive English program on campus, INTERLINK that provides English language instruction and academic preparation skills. All of our classes are small, allowing for close, personal interactions with our professors. Our academic programs are accredited by the highest bodies and we rank among the top five universities in the U.S. News and World Report - Midwest Region. We are also among the 15% of U.S. colleges and universities featured in the annual Princeton Review.
Our location combines both safety and access to a myriad of cultural opportunities. The University is located in Valparaiso, Indiana, a city of approximately 31,000 residents. Our city is small and safe but is also a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, the third largest city in the US. We are about one hour from downtown Chicago which offers many employment and cultural opportunities. The size and location of Valparaiso makes it a perfect host for students with a wide variety of interests.
If there is one thing that separates Valparaiso University from other institutions, it is our sense of community. Through academics, service, leadership training and extra-curricular activities our students are able to grow in a very nurturing, supportive environment.
